USB connectivity provides plug and play operation with most of computers running Windows 2000 or XP. Three models are available with 1024, 2048 and 4096 channels of conversion gain. The internal preamplifier allows direct connection to scintillation detectors. The bipolar amplifier includes polarity selection and multiple shaping times when using different types of detectors with external preamplifiers. Upper and lower level discriminators may be set for rejection of unwanted signals. The high voltage supply is rated to +2000V for use with scintillation or proportional detectors. Optional polarity selection is available for use with detectors requiring negative bias. A preamplifier power connector is included for use with our model PA-1 external preamplifier. A 10µsec fixed conversion ADC allows high throughput with deadtime correction. Input selection for preamplifier, amplifier or ADC direct is included by computer control. In addition to the normal pulse height analysis mode the UCS30 may be operated as a multichannel scaler for time correlated studies such as half-life decay. A special Mossbauer mode is included with MSB output for synchronization of the drive circuit. X-ray mapping may be performed with the optional ROI output. For ease of setup a autocalibrate mode is provided that automatically sets the HV and amplifier gain to 1 keV/ channel using a Cs-137 source. Once the system is calibrated all parameters may be saved as setup files for quick recall of specific measurements. Data may be saved as binary files for reloading into memory or as spreadsheet compatible files for data processing. A background buffer is included for storing a spectrum when background subtraction, factional spectrum stripping or overlay is required. Multiple ROI’s may be set with calculation of gross and net area. Presets include Real Time, Live Time and ROI Integral. Isomatch includes a text editable library of common isotopes. When loaded, markers are placed on the display at the positions of the isotope energies to aid in identification. Multiple UCS30’s may be connected to a single computer providing USB ports are available. The internal power supply is UL, CE and CSA listed for operation worldwide Warranty is one year parts and labor, return to factory. Specifications Hardware

INTEGRATED COMPUTER SPECTROMETER, is an ICS-PCI interface card 9.5 inches in length, which is an advanced, easy-to-use MultiChannel Analyzer constructed on a PCI plug-in card designed for installation on most PC's. The card is available in 1024, 2048 and 4096 channel versions. Advanced features include the control of the amplifier and the photo multiplier tube high voltage, both upper and lower level discriminators as well as the course and fine gain. On-Card data memory, software for Windows 98 or higher, the ability to use this card with other detector systems such as HpGe, alpha spectrometers or photon detectors with external amplifiers and the built in high voltage supply for photo multiplier tubes make this a versatile card. In addition, computer controlled input selectors are provided to bypass the scintillation amplifier and allow direct access to the ADC or MCS input. An optional sub-panel (TEL-ICSPCIOPT -- $70) is available to gain access to Gate input, MSB output for Mossbauer control and custom control signals. Stability and low noise operation is achieved by regenerating critical power on the card through the use of a high efficiency converter powered from the computer. An on-board microprocessor controls storage device and the communication link to the PC bus. The on-board amplifier and high voltage is fully compatible with standard scintillation detectors. A high speed 6µsec. ADC offers excellent data throughput at high counting rates with minimal dead-time losses. Conversion gain may be changed via the software. Data from the ADC is stored directly in on-board memory for autonomy and high speed operation, freeing the host PC for other tasks. A single standard card slot is required for the ICS-PCI. It has been designed for installation in IBM compatible computers with a minimum of 512K Ram and EGA or VGA graphics. To aid in the identification of nuclides, the ICS-PCI contains a unique
peak labeling feature named ISOMATCH. Providing the unit is accurately
energy calibrated, the user may select a nuclide from the library and the
corresponding characteristic emission lines are superimposed on the
spectrum along with isotope and energy information. Using this
feature, users may quickly check a spectrum and visually identify the
emission components for each nuclide present. ADC: Fixed conversion 6µsec. computer selected
conversion gain from 4096 to 256 channels depending on model. Direct
input accepts pulse peaking times of 0.5µsec. to 10µsec. Includes
dead-time correction when used in Live-time mode. Amplifier: On-board combination amplifier/preamplifier for use with scintillation detectors and photo multiplier tubes.
BNC connector for direct connection to PMT anode signal. On-board
relays to bypass amplifier for use with positive unipolar or bipolar
signals from external amplifier for alpha/beta spectrometers, 0-8 volt
range. Course and fine gain from X1 to X160. Computer controlled high voltage output
via an MHV or optional SHV connector supplies fully regulated and
controlled voltage in 2V increments from 0-1280 volts @ 1mA maximum current. Upper and Lower Level Discriminators:
computer controlled over entire input range prior to ADC operation to reduce system dead time. Modes: MCA for pulse height analysis, MCS for half-life and other time related studies; real time or live time operation selectable in 1 second increments in MCA mode, dwell time selectable from 10mS to 600sec per channel in MCS mode, 100µsec to 500µsec for Mossbauer (requires optional subpannel TEL-ICSPCIOPT --$70). System dead time computed and displayed on screen during acquisition. Zero level: 10 turn pot. Data Memory: On-board dynamic RAM, 1024, 2048, 4096 channel x 3 Bytes for data, plus region-of-interest flag. Power: Supplied from PCI computer bus. On-board regulated for
stability and noise rejection.
ROI: Multiple regions of interest with color coding. Modes: MCA, preset real or live time, selectable. MCS, dwell times from 10mS to 600sec per channel, selectable. Preset count mode for selected channel, peak channel or gross Region-of-Interest. Smoothing: 3 point smoothing of displayed data, (original data is unaffected). Control: Software control input selector, High Voltage,
Amplifier Gain, Lower and Upper level discriminators, and ADC Conversion
Gain. File: Save or load files and header information in binary or spreadsheet formats. Calibration: auto or manual 2 point linear or 3 point quadratic calibration converts cursor position reading to energy units or time units in MCS mode. Subtraction: Subtracts channel by channel the time normalized data that is stored in a background buffer. Overlay data memory spectrum with data in buffer. Background Buffer: Used to store background spectrum from time normalized background subtraction. Integral: When cursor is in ROI, computes gross area, net area with end point averaging, centroid and FWHM. Peak Report: Displays ROI data, centroid, FWHM, gross and net
integrals, and header information in spreadsheet compatible format. ISOMATCH: A library text file with peak markers for overlaying the spectrum for quick isotope identification. Library can be edited or extended by using a word processor or text editor. System: Operates under Windows 98 and higher. Display: 640x480 and higher. Vertical scale adjust from 64 to
16M and LOG display. Horizontal 1024, 2048, 4096 channels with expansion down to 32
channels.
