PRECISION SPARK GENERATOR

TEL 231 Precision Spark Generator
With the Precision Spark Generator there are nine fixed frequencies available to choose. The fixed frequency leaves no uncertainty as to the timing interval during recording. The frequencies are derived by digitally dividing the power line frequency.

Stability: Typically 1%
Spark Voltage: Approximately 30 kV. This voltage depends on the gap length. A 15 mm gap can be jumped.
Connections: High voltage and ground leads, 1.2m long terminated by alligator clips. Trigger push-button on a 1 m cord.

TEL 233 Glider Release

GLIDER RELEASE

The Glider Release consists of a power supply and small electromagnetic which holds the bumper spring of the glider until current is interrupted. The Glider Release starts air track experiments such as acceleration on an incline, or acceleration with a constant force. When the glider is released, a control signal is sent to start a spark generator or an electronic timer. The timer can be stopped by a photogate placed on the track. Since the time record starts when the motion starts, the calculationof the acceleration from rest is easy.

TEL 232 Electric Glider Launcher

ELECTRIC GLIDER LAUNCHER

It is often necessary to reproduce the initial velocity of a glider between repetitions of an experiment. Rubber band launchers approximate the starting conditions but they are limited in accuracy and range of velocities that can be imparted to the glider. The Electric Glider Launcher imparts a preset and reproducible impulse to the glider. It consists of a large capacitor charged by an adjustable power supply. When the launch push-button is pressed, the capacitor is discharged through a solenoid mounted on the end stop of the air track. The solenoid delivers a substantial impulse to the glider. A small magnet on the mounting bracket holds the glider in position until launched.
