AIR TRACK ACCESSORIES AIR TRACKS AIR TRACK ACCESSORIES FOR SPARK RECORDING HARMONIC MOTION ACCESSORIES TEL 212 Spare Gliders These gliders are designed for rugged use. They are tested by adding a mass equal to the glider mass to ensure that they float properly. Threaded grooves for #10-24 screws on the top and both sides of the glider’s vertical section allow additions to be made without drilling and tapping holes. They have nickel plated spring steel bumpers and fastening points for springs at each end. The mass of the glider is within 1 gm of its stated mass.
TEL 214 End Pulley This lightweight, low-friction pulley mountson a modified end-stop to guide a string over the end of the air track. Connecting the string to a glider allows acceleration experiments with a constant force.
TEL 215 Air Pulley Using the same principle as the air track, this pulley assembly gives a friction-free method of attaching weights to the glider. Weights of up to 50 gm are held by a piece of mylar tape. With the Air Pulley there is no angular momentum to complicate the analysis of motion.
TEL 216 Instantaneous Velocity Flags Four aluminum flags (one each 5cm, 10cm, 20cm, 30cm) can be mounted on a glider to measure the velocity of an accelerating glider through a photogate thus making it possible to extrapolate the true velocity of the glider at the gate.
TEL 217 Inelastic Collision Kit The principle of conservation of momentum can be demonstrated with this kit. Four replacement Velcro® bumpers replace the normal bumper springs. The Velcro® causes colliding gliders to stick together.
TEL 219A Glider Bumper Springs Set of 20 nickel plated spring steel bumper springs to replace broken springs that become damaged.
TEL 219B Soft Bumper Springs For “softer” collisions use these springs to replace the standard bumper springs that come with the unit. Comes in sets of 20.
TEL 220 Coil Springs These coil springs come in sets of 10. They can be used for harmonic motion studies on an air track. If used to hang small masses (10-100gm), the set makes an harmonic motion experiment on its own. Springs are wound stainless steel wire 0.5mm in diameter and will stretch to 10 times their length without damage. 2.5 cm Coil Spring Force constant 3.2 Newtons/meter
Force constant 2.5 Newtons/meter
Force constant 1.8 Newtons/meter
TEL 221 Riser Block Kit Four 4 cm square aluminum blocks with thicknesses of 0.3, 0.6, 1.3, and 2.6 cm are included. These blocks can be stacked to provide a fixed and reproducible slope when doing inclined track experiments.
TEL 222 Ceramic Magnet Set A set of 10 magnets which can be attached to the top of a glider for non-contact collisions or taped to the skirt of a glider for damping in harmonic motion experiments.
TEL 225 Picket Fence Target This is a 39 cm long clear plastic target that slips into the slot on top of a glider. It is marked with a series of 2.5 cm wide parallel bars separated by a distance of 2.5 cm.
